Short and sweet this week as I’m heading off to a conference in Spain: I was intrigued to read a news report this morning stating that e-mail marketing poses the biggest threat to UK data protection – ahead of the Internet, telemarketing and direct mail. With identity fraud already up by a whopping 66 per cent this year, according to the ICO, I certainly think it’s time for some businesses to start taking their data protection responsibilities far more seriously – particularly the estimated 58 per cent of UK organisations that don’t have any data quality strategies in place. Contact data is gold, people!
No sight of any unsolicited Argos items in our letterbox as yet, you’ll be pleased to know. My better half remains vigilant, however.
Enjoy the fine weather. More next week…
